How to use the WP Meteor Plugin on your Site

The WP Meteor plugin is a very easy way to improve your site’s load time and it will help improve the site’s load time for site visitors.

After the plugin has been installed and activated on your site it will add a new admin menu to;

Settings > WP Meteor

The plugin works by delaying the loading and firing of scripts until after the page is rendered. The WP Meteor plugin will help improve your Google PageSpeed score and the perceived load time for site users.

The plugin will improve the following that Google Lighthouse uses to return the site results based on these key performance indicators;

Page Speed
Largest Contentful Paint (LCP)
Time To Interactive (TTI)
Total Blocking Time (TBT)

The WP Meteor plugin works with the following full-page caching and minification plugins;

WP Rocket
W3 Total Cache
WP Super Cache
LiteSpeed Cache

By default will set script load to be delayed by 1 second you will get better front-end performance gains by changing the default to be 2 seconds.

If you test with the plugin active and notice any issues when setting the delay at 2 seconds then it would be safe to revert it back to 1 second.

The plugin also by default will work with the Elementor page builder plugin.

MainWP has a solid extension for code snippets that will allow you to save and run code snippets on all or some of the connected child sites. There is a filter in the plugin which will allow you to disable it from running on specific post IDs.

You can use the following code snippet and then adapt it to the post ID that you need to exclude WP Meteor from running on.

Using the WP Meteor plugin is an easy performance win and the UI will have more settings added in future releases.
